March 19, 2009 Luncheon - Neighborhood Stabilization Program

Speakers:
  • Bill Goldsmith -  Mercy Portfolio Services
  • Robin Snyderman - Metropolitan Planning Council
  • Katie Ludwig - City of Chicago/Dept. of Community Development

The program described efforts being taken by the City of Chicago and suburban communities to combat the residential foreclosure crisis.  Bill Goldsmith of Mercy Portfolio Services is working closely with the City of Chicago and the Chicago Neighborhood Stabilization Corporation to manage the City's $55.2 million Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP).  The Metropolitan Planning Council's Robin Snyderman is working closely with regional partners -- especially the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus and  an inter-jurisdictional group of  municipal leaders from the two "hardest hit" suburban clusters -- on NSP regionwide .  Details were provided about this federal NSP initiative, what they are doing--and how you can help--to bring back thousands of vacant and foreclosed properties.
